Join us for GW Biomedical Cross-disciplinary Seminar Series: Connecting Academic Research & Inquiry Across Disciplines—a series of seminars that explore a new cross-disciplinary topic each year. For the inaugural year, the focus is "Inflammation in Chronic Disease: Cause, Consequence, or Both?" and will address both the treatment and prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases.
This lecture is on "Interoception and Mental Health" with guest speaker Sahib S. Khalsa, MD, PhD, who is the director of Clinical Operations, Laureate Institute for Brain Research, associate professor, University of Tulsa, Oxley College of Health Sciences, director, LIBR Float Clinic and Research Center, volunteer faculty member, Department of Psychiatry, University of Oklahoma. Dr. Khalsa is one of the world's leading experts in brain-body mechanisms and mental health. He will talk about interoception mechanisms related to eating disorders as well as the cardiovascular components. This special seminar was organized by the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology, GW Institute for Biomedical Sciences, and the CNHS Center for Neuroscience Research.
The series was organized by the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences’ (SMHS) Department of Pharmacology & Physiology and the Office of Integrative Medicine and Health. The seminar series is supported by departmental funding and the generosity of Ellen J.
