In the early 20th century, the production of hemp, for a variety of uses including both the production of rope and mainstream medicine was common. The first regulation of cannabis came in 1906 with the Pure Food Act which required over-the-counter drugs containing cannabis be labeled. In the 1970s The Controlled Substances Act outlawed the use of cannabis, but in 1996 California legalized medical cannabis.
As legalization and decriminalization policies spread across the U.S. and the retail market expands many wonder if we're moving in the right direction. Join us for a panel discussion where will discuss the pros and cons of regulated cannabis led by Professor Roger Nober, Director of GW Regulatory Studies. Our panelist, Professor of Philosophy Chris Meyers, Associate Professor of Medicine Mikhail Kogan, and alumnus Michael Feinsod CCAS BA '93, CEO Bespoke Extracts and Managing Partner of Infinity Capital LLC, will offer their unique perspectives on the social, economic, and health
Following the panel there will be a reception for attendees to network with fellow alumni, students, and friends. This event is free to attend and open to the GW community.
